Welcome to the official website of the Code 3 for a Cure Foundation (C3FAC).
We are looking forward to attending the upcoming Mo-Hawk Less Cancer Motorcycle Ride and After Party benefit for C3FAC. Come join us on September 12 at Jesse Oaks in Gages Lake, Illinois. This event is held each year in loving memory of Kevin Oldham, Firefighter/Paramedic, Waukegan Fire Department, Illinois, who inspired so many of us with his determination to help others despite his illness. You can read more about Kevin on the Mo-Hawk Less Cancer Event Page.
On October 24, the Hampton Fire Department will conduct its Third Annual Hometown Heroes 5k benefit and, for the second consecutive year, it will be a charity fundraiser for C3FAC. Their goal is to have 300 individuals cross the finish line in full firefighter gear to bring attention the the C3FAC cause. If you're ready to take on this challenge, please visit the event page.
Anyone interested in conducting a fundraising event for C3FAC can visit our "Organize a Fundraising Event" page for guidelines and further information.
On August 22, we had the pleasure of welcoming home members of the National Fire Velo Cycling Club as they finished their annual SF to LA Ride at Santa Monica Pier. During the closing ceremony, Fire Velo President Jim Berklite presented us with a generous $5,000 donation to Code 3 for a Cure. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of this great nonprofit organization.
Code 3 for a Cure was recently featured on the Hallmark Channel's Home and Family show. The segment aired on August 18 and 19. During the show, hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare presented us with a generous $1,000 donation to Code 3 for a Cure on behalf of the show. We greatly enjoyed meeting Mark, Cristina, producers, and staff, who made us feel like we were a part of their Home and Family. You can watch the segment here. We were also featured on KUSI's Good Morning San Diego on August 22, which you can view here.
Congratulations to my wife, Peggy, who is featured in the September issue of Runner's World Magazine, in the "Go You" section, for her efforts in running in firefighter gear to represent me and Code 3 for a Cure. We are grateful for all of the athletes who have put forth tremendous efforts in raising funds for Code 3. If you are an athlete who is interested in extending beyond your own personal goals to make a difference for firefighters across the nation who are battling cancer, I welcome you to consider becoming an Athletic Warrior for C3FAC. You don't have to run in gear or be a firefighter to join our team. Additional information can be found on our Athletes page.
Wishing you a wonderful September. On behalf of all of us here at C3FAC, I wish you good health and peace.
