Code 3 for a Cure President & Founder Lorenzo Abundiz
Undergoes Treatment for Prostate Cancer
Code 3 President Lorenzo Abundiz, diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2008, completed proton therapy on June 8, 2008, and underwent hormone therapy as well to treat the disease after carrying out extensive research to determine what would be best for his body. This marks Abundiz's third cancer battle, and he is determined now more than ever to defeat the disease once and for all. After extensive preparation which included gathering numerous medical records and making various arrangements with MD Anderson Proton Therapy in Houston, Texas, an initial appointment date was set and some time later, his proton therapy began. He completed the treatment on June 8, 2009, with the support of the Houston Fire Department and all the great doctors and technicians at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Once Abundiz' main treatment regime ended, he returned home to focus on completing plans for the 2009 Mission of Honor and Hope, which began on September 14 and ended on November 23. He is now catching up with much work to be done following the Mission.
