One down, 26 to go, and an awe-inspiring day. Firefighter Robert Verhelst embarked on his quest to break the World Record, and it seemed the entire North Naples community stood behind him. Citizens of all ages and walks of life gathered to cheer him on. HITS Triathlon Series Director Mark Wilson and his entire staff put on a great event and gave tremendous support to Robert's efforts. Trent, Doug, Lisa, and all at The Spot at Vanderbilt Beach restaurant provided incredibly warm hospitality and delicious food. The North Naples Fire Department followed Robert in a fire apparatus during the last portion of the event, which was deeply touching and showed the true brotherhood spirit within the fire service. Congratulations to Robert, and many thanks to all who gave him encouragement and support.
